Blowing Bubbles…

a driving need
a sly whisper
stock in a chewing gum factory
the fidget that
masked my shaking hands
the smokescreen
I used willfully
thoughtlessly
to hide in plain sight
pushes me still
awakens me still
until the craving is all
is everything I can feel
and I become weak
and wanting
obsessive
for just one smoke
one drag
that would be my undoing
as I blow another bubble
chew another stick of gum
drum my fingers on the table
and wait
for my need to let me go
while I wish
I at least had skill
with these bubbles
