Hot Flashes…

Usually, at thirty five years old, I wouldn’t be writing on this topic.  However, post chemo and the hysterectomy I get to be the fun adventurer having hot flashes and night sweats.

It’s almost like some sort of “werewolf gone terribly wrong” syndrome: the sun goes down and my whole body goes for the flash burn.

Last night, we went to a parent’s meeting at the kids’ school.  That’s right, last night as in AFTER SUNSET.  It was a crazy n ight — the wind was blowing like mad, trees were down, it sounded like a banshee was wrapping herself around the school buildings and wailing and moaning.  And I was resplendent in pouring heat and sweat.  Sigh.

There are days I honestly feel self-conscious enough that I would rather not leave the house.  If I’m being honest, I have to cop to that one.  But no, I went to the meeting and even spoke to the room during a hot flash.  By the way, take a bit of natural shyness (which makes me blush) and add a hot flash and you get me in my new incarnation as a cherry tomato.

The nice part was the fact that I was surrounded by mostly women, and one of them was having hot flashes too.  It helps to laugh it off and have someone suffer right along with me. 🙂

Today marks a busy day with the words, and a lot of sitting around recovering from that darn vacuum cleaner kicking my butt.  FYI, it will be less expensive to buy a new one than to have it repaired.  Vacuums.  Man, oh man.

Blessings to you all on this (for us) chilly morning! xoxo
