Phoenix…(A prose poem)

Tumbling faster than a spin cycle could carry my body – turn by turn aflame then ashen – aflame then ashen – rising only to stumble beneath a weight – so rising again – a philosophical shrug – profile the only visible part – as this body is transformed – metamorphosed – into a new phase – a new life, even a new normal – moving forward out of the husk that was my existence – words flowing in my blood – strength drifting into limbs – a smile forming on my lips – as I am resurrected from the tiny deaths – that walked with me every day – in the power I freely gave to those who are so much weaker than I am – the phoenix rises from its own ashes – so my health renews – and fighting spirit returns – with only one true difference: this time, I am fearless.
