Adventurous April Week Two…

Last week, I began taking local bee pollen as part of the challenge to try one new thing per week during the month of April.

Thankfully, it is only Thursday of the second week, so I can get this one in under the wire!

This week, I have added Aloe Vera Juice to my daily diet.  For those of you who are entirely new to this topic, Aloe Vera Juice is known as a healing tonic.  It can help in a detox of the entire physical system, including a colon cleanse.  As with any supplement, the more natural it is – the better it is for you.  It can boost your immune system, due to the fact that it has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.  For more information about this, you can go visit the site http://www.aloe-vera-studies.org/aloe-vera-juice-benefits.php.

Now, I’m just a *tiny* bit hardcore when it comes to taking supplements.  I am drinking this stuff entirely straight, in two 2 ounce shots per day (one morning, one evening, if you were wondering 🙂 ).  The flavor is…ahhhhh, interesting, to say the least.  But, taking it as a shot (think as in tequila shot, but without the cool “body shots” and without any drunken side effects) is so quick, the taste barely phases me.  If you are more sensitive to flavors, I would recommend mixing your Aloe juice into another kind of juice to mask it.  🙂  I can be nice, sometimes.

I guess it is a day for alliteration, since I am also cooking up some Artichokes to continue my cleansing of my poor, toxified body.

People talk about chronic, long term side effects from chemo, and I have been keeping a record of what I feel each day as I get further and further away from my last chemo dose.  That was October 4th, by the way.  On April 4th I hit my six months!  Thus far, I seem to have a lingering fatigue (which I am trying to convince myself is fading, but, let’s face it, I am drinking coffee to push through if my babies need me to push through).  Also, I get headaches now.  As in, every day I get headaches.  I’m not a fan of this, but they are relatively minor — in other words, I don’t need any pills to get through them.  I can’t stand pills, and after this past year I think my body needs a break from them.

So, week two: Aloe and Artichokes.  Of course, it will take a few days at least before I notice any difference from this, but I will post as I feel ANYTHING!

Blessings (and amazing health) to you all…
