Immunity…

It would be awesome if I were writing this post about my own diplomatic immunity, or something equally “secret agent.”  Instead, it’s the good old immune system.

Before I knew I had cancer, I caught every cold, sniffle and flu going around.  Each year, I would get worse and worse – the colds would turn to bronchitis, then pneumonia.

My doctor told me that was a direct result of my immune system spending all of its energy and resources on fighting the tumours.  There just wasn’t enough left over for fighting the usual run-of-the-mill viruses/bacteria that came around every flu season.

After my bilateral mastectomy I had a lean, mean, fighting immue system.  I sailed through the kids’ flu seasons, colds, the annual bug Lara catches.  All of this despite chemo, and the havoc it brought to my immunity.

I am apparently coming back to a normal immuno-resistance.  Translation:  I have the flu.  Well, I think it’s the start of the flu.  It doesn’t stand much of a chance of sticking around, as I am drowning it in Gypsy Cold Care tea (Traditional Medicinals, good stuff).  That has to be one of my absolute favorite natural remedies for that under-the-weather feeling.

So, I have nothing brilliant or really insightful to share.  Just a lot of humidity and tea and my vitamins.  I am hoping all of you are well out there.

Blessings to you all…
