Friday Philosophy, Saturday Style…

Today, thoughts on love, on courage, on steadfastness.

“The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.” ~ Mother Teresa

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” ~ Nelson Mandela

“My writing practice taught me the important thing is steadfastness. It’s not necessarily discipline. Discipline can become a prison. When your spiritual practices become another thing for you to be anxious about, they’ve lost their usefulness.” ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

In the face of adversity, it seems that there are two broad categories of people: those who rise to the occasion and triumph, and those who shrink into insubstantial nothings and slink away. There are champions, and there are victims.

Both are choices. And as the Knight of the Crusade said in Indiana Jones, “You must choose wisely.” 🙂

Blessings to you all, and a reminder: NEVER give up…
