There are moments we all must stop to stare into the face of our own fear. These are the moments when we have an opportunity to recognize the difference between fear on the instinctual level (which helps us survive) and fear that results from overthinking (I maintain the overthinking fear is a killer).
It’s a Tuesday, and I am going to the oncologist for my check in. This is the same check in I do every three months. I am always still in remission. And every time I have to go I get scared. Sigh. After each appointment I tell myself that I will do better next time. Then the next time rolls around and I act like a ninny.
So, with an hour to go until I see “the Pasta” (as we lovingly call my oncologist), I share with you (for my own edification haha) some quotes about fear.
“We fear violence less than our own feelings. Personal, private, solitary pain is more painful than what anyone else can inflict.” ~ Jim Morrison
“Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here.” ~ Marianne Williamson
“There are very few monsters who warrant the fear we have of them.” ~ Andre Gide
“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.” ~ Mark Twain
I will post after I leave the oncologist’s office. All is well, how else would it be?
Blessings to you all…
